Tokyo 2020: I am in Good Shape to Qualify - Aruna Quadri
Two-time Olympian and Africa’s No. 1 ranked table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, has revealed his health status on full recovery from his thigh injury and hopes to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled for next year, when sporting activities resume.
The 2014 Commonwealth bronze medallist, who plies his trade with Bundesliga outfit, TTC RhönSprudel, disclosed on Eko FM that he has full recovered from his injury,
“I have fully recovered. I am okay now, and rearing to go. The suspension of all sporting activities has really helped, it’s already two months, and hopefully I’ll be back and ready".
“My Olympic chances, are brighter, I believe I can make it to Tokyo. Judging by my form ranking, my prospect is brighter,” Quadri stated.
Quadri made history in 2014 winning the ITTF Star Player award.
He reflected on the Dubai feat, admitting that it had a positive effect on his career.
“It was a dream come true, whenever I remember that year I always smile. It is favour, product of hard-work.
“I didn’t let failure stop me. I learnt a lot and God finally crowned my effort.
“I’m now forced to train harder, not to relent. The feat gave me endless opportunities in the sport, you know, training in world-class facilities. It is something that won’t make you relent. You keep trying.”
